I was born in Wellington and now live in Waikanae on the Kāpiti Coast with my husband and three chidlren. After training as a primary school and then an early childhood teacher, I spent 15 years working in the education sector. During that time I noticed many children who were unable to learn effectively due to emotional or learning challenges, which sparked my passion for understanding children's behaviour. After spending many years mentoring teachers to better support children who were struggling, I decided to undertake my training to become a psychologist. I believe that when children feel safe and have positive relationships with those around them, they will then be ready to learn.

While completing my Masters of Educational Psychology and Post Graduate Diploma of Educational Psychology Practice, one of my children went through the process of assessment and diagnosis for ADHD, dysgraphia, and auditory processing disorder. This has been an important step in my journey, and gave me insight into the challenges of this process from a parent perspective. Wanting to support children and their families in the Kāpiti community, I decided to set up a practice on our lifestyle property in Waikanae. I have a passion for ADHD and child mental health, and hope to make a difference in the lives of children who are experiencing challenges.
